On August 15th, The Woodhull Freedom Foundation is hosting a fundraiser on behalf of their efforts to make sex significantly safer. Currently, anything other than traditional monogamous married heterosexual sex is not safe sex, because there is one type of risk that there is no protection for: Legal risk.

A Florida woman lost custody of her 12 year old daughter because the judge wanted the child to live in a non-lesbian world. The child was removed from her comfortable home and from a reportedly excellent mother to live with her father in a trailer park. Her father had a long history of violent and abusive behavior and had served eight years in prison for the murder of his first wife.

A Tennessee woman had her 3 year old daughter taken from her because she was married and in a polyamorous relationship with another man. The child was put in the care of the paternal grandmother. The father had run out on her when he learned that she was pregnant and had no relationship with the child.

A California woman who worked as an EMT was fired from her job when her employee learned that she was a swinger.

In the land of the free, many Americans fear losing their jobs, their housing, or their children because of their legal sexual practices with other consenting adults. A 1998 survey by Susan Wright and Larry Iannotti found that 30 percent of regular BDSM practitioners said they'd faced discrimination, a quarter had lost a job, and three percent had lost a child in a custody fight.

If someone is part of the gay community, or into BDSM, swinging, polyamory or any other non-traditional mode of sexual expression or works in a wide range of sexually oriented businesses such as adult films, exotic dancing or as a sex worker — they know firsthand the condemnation that many in our culture direct at them. But today, more and more people are beginning to stand up for the right to express their sexuality with other consenting adults without harassment or discrimination. Woodhull Freedom Foundation works to support those efforts.

The Woodhull Freedom Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, named for 19th century activist Victoria Woodhull, works to affirm sexual freedom as a fundamental human right. WFF fights to protect and advance freedom of speech and sexual expression. WFF promotes sexuality as a positive personal, social and moral value through research, advocacy, activism, education and outreach.

I'm coming out to teach

I'm feeling my oats and want to play in the light of day, so I'm teaching a workshop at the International Olympus Leather Weekend at the Hilton LAX on August 7-9, 2009. The event will feature classses and workshops, vendors, stage performances, The Mr and Ms International Olympus Leather Contests, The Meet and Greet, The Celebrity Auction, The Sunday Brunch, and weekend play parties at Passive Arts Studios.

My workshop: Group play - Creating scenes for more than two people

Whether creating scenes for your two submissives or nine Dommes, this workshop will help you create a dynamic experience for all. Planning, negotiating, special aftercare and bringing more creativity to your play will inspire you to do more than the same old slap and tickle.

Secondly, I'll be adding my face to a panel in the OC for the next generation of kinklings that will get their information about the lifestyle from their college Human Sexuality class not under the bleachers like most of us learned.

It's progress, plain and simple and don't forget to support NCSF people!

Political Orgasms and painful bondage

With Senator Ensign of Arizona in the news, I had to laugh at the trouble we still have as humans trying to live openly and freely for a healthy sexual lifestyle. And yet, the Leather lifestyle is evolving quicker than I can throw a flogger. What the Old Guard Leather did in private or in gay bars and bathhouses 60 years ago has moved to the public scenes, kink festivals and now Human Sexuality classes that teach the next generation about the many ways to be and express ourselves as fully realized human beings.

This is much cooler than a new IPhone. I live in a time when a black man can be President of the United States and I can make a retired Marine cum by fisting his anus. Isn't this a great country? But before we get all happy and start comparing our Tramp Stamps and piercings, let's not forget that in many states we can still go to jail or the psych ward, or worse lose our jobs and families for practicing our kink. The DSM4 or Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Manual still lists BDSM (like they used to list homosexuality) as a way to lock us up and pray away our keys to sexual freedom.

And I still have to protect my privacy because of these laws and while many of us are still looking for ways to push their kink boundaries, I challenge you to push the edginess out of kink and get us out of the damn DSM-4! If you have musical talent and reach sing about it, if you write, tell a story, if you advocate, call your politicians, make a statement, support a cause, write a check, but make a difference for YOURSELF! Do something people, before your next orgasm at least make a donation to organizations like the NCSF National Coalition of Sexual Freedom.

I want every orgasm I have or give to do some good in the world. Don't you? And remember Global Orgasm Day, December 21, 2009.
